Dolly stated in an online article that she did contact them to record 'Stairway To Heaven' with her, but failed to divulge any details of the conversation if one in fact did occur or if they simply snubbed the country Queen and her attempts at contacting them.
In one online article, it was discussed how Dolly tried to get Plant and Page to record 'Stairway To Heaven' with her:
"Unfortunately, Parton wasn’t able to get Robert Plant and Jimmy Page together for her cover of “Stairway to Heaven.” She told Consequence that she tried to get Plant and Page to come on board for the album, but to no avail."

Dolly covered 'Stairway To Heaven' in 2002 in a country bluegrass style, but recorded it again for her new album 'Rockstar' in keeping with the original style but she recorded it sans Page and Plant.
When Dolly appeared on today's Howard Stern satellite radio show via remote viewing, she failed to bring up trying to work with Plant and Page on her new album 'Rockstar' and implied that the only reason any star turned her down was due to scheduling problems when that seems hard to believe in the case of Page and Plant where they seemed to pardon Parton and pled the fifth.
Dolly said she was in Nashville when she taped the Stern
show today, yet also appeared in Australia to present an award.
It is well known that Robert Plant has turned to bluegrass music himself, winning Grammys with Alison Krauss and performing a few of the Led Zep tunes with different arrangements because Plant can't sing anymore and blew out his voice several decades ago. But he still turned down a chance to sing with the iconic Country Queen Dolly Parton.
Dolly should've done what many singers do, just play the original song and sing with the record, like Natalie Cole singing with her father Nat King Cole or Lisa Marie Presley singing with an old video of her dad Elvis or just hunted easier game like Barbra Streisand did and get that loser Alec Baldwin to sing a duet with her on her album.
