Today, Ben talked about doing a movie called "Flirting With Disaster" (1996) yet he and Howard failed to mention the big elephant in the room, Beth Ostrosky Stern.
In the past, Howard's always been very vocal bragging about Beth and her big life.
Normally, Howard always chimes in with "Beth said this," or "Beth said that," or Beth appears in person in Howard's bargain basement radio studio that's inside his sinking Hamptons sandpit providing Howard can get a sponsor to pay for Beth's appearances since Stern's boss Jennifer Witz is not paying for anything and Howard doesn't want to use the Stern show budget for Beth, although normally, to appear on the show in person, someone pays for the segment. Like when an actor or someone is pushing their book or new movie or TV show, the production company pays for the appearance and publicity.
So, where was BETH today? The elephant in the room? Hmmm, the plot thickens as one wonders why she ran and hid when Howard has always bragged about Beth's big acting career and this blogger's blogged about it many times about Howard bragging about Beth's big career and he even bragged in front of Artie Lange when he used to be a show regular, about how famous Beth was and appeared in "Flirting With Disaster".
Artie didn't know it at the time, but he laughed when he said, paraphrasing, "What movie was Beth in with Stiller?" and Artie roared with laughter. We know when Howard is genuinely mad when he gets that stone face and is stoic, and he said with tight lips, "Flirting With Disaster" when Artie was flirting with disaster after laughing at Beth for not being famous enough for Artie to remember her. But that was the beginning of the end for Artie on the Stern show.
