Outer space is limitless, and apparently so is the SiriusXM satellite company's resources as they managed to dominate the podcast nominations category for the upcoming Golden Globe awards in 2026, receiving THREE out of the six nominations. Isn't that verrrry interesting.
I mean, I know that SiriusXM is hogging the new car industry, mandating SiriusXM be installed in every car and then badgering customers to continue as paying subscribers, but my gosh, they are hardly considered the top podcasting provider and satellite always ranks behind everyone else in regular broadcasting, with YouTube gaining traction as a major player in the podcasting paradise.
SiriusXM did already buy a bunch of Signal awards this year, which is equal to a Webby, they are run by the same company which are joke awards because just about anyone can buy them. In 2022, Sirius won a data storage award, I know, this sounds like a joke but it's a real award for how they store data, and an award for a music app.
So what qualifies them to sweep the Golden Globes podcast nomination category? Nothing, because the titans of podcast hosting platforms are Spotify and Apple, yet Spotify only received one nomination and Apple got zero. This is Siriusly suspicious.
2026 GOLDEN GLOBE BEST PODCAST NOMINATiONS LIST
Call Her Daddy (SIRIUSXM)
The Mel Robbins Podcast (SIRIUSXM)
Smartless (SIRIUSXM)
Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard (WONDERY [Amazon])
Good Hang with Amy Poehler (SPOTIFY)
Up First (NPR)
The Golden Globe nominations avoided politics or controversy by passing on popular podcasts from the shortlist, such as conservative-leaning programs “The Megyn Kelly Show,” “The Tucker Carlson Show,” “The Ben Shapiro Show,” Candace Owen’s “Candace” and, most notably, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” which topped Spotify, Apple and YouTube’s list of weekly podcast charts this year, didn't make the nominations list as one wonders what happened to his $cience Lovers' support with the nomination going to another $cience Lover Dax Shephard with his podcast on Wondery, owned by Amazon. The left-leaning “Pod Save America” also was snubbed, as were popular true crime podcasts like “Morbid” and “Rotten Mango.”
As already blogged about on the 10-22-25 Beth Fan Page blog entry, only after this blogger said Stern is not a podcaster so would not be eligible for Golden Globe nomination, only then did Howard bring it up on the air on 11-3-25 [see blog entry that same date], about how he would not qualify and talked about the podcasts that would be considered for a Golden Globe nomination.
